4 Months

I have turned into such a social butterfly! Anything from a trip to the grocery store (in the Moby/Bjorn) to restaurants to the park to parties! I love being out and about. I am not particular about who holds me (I'm definitely not mommy-clingy-yet), but if I am upset, Mommy is the only one who can calm me down.

Stats:  I'm long and skinny with a big BIG head!
  • 15.2 lbs (50th percentile)
  • 25" long (75th percentile)
  • 17.25 head circumference (90th percentile)

Clothing Size: 6-9 months

Diaper Size: Size 2

Feeding: I nurse exclusively 3 days a week (Fri-Sun) and then Mommy pumps while she's at work (Mon-Thurs). I drink 13 oz while Mommy is at work (3 bottles - 4 oz, 4 oz, and  5 oz).  No matter the size of the bottle, I can suck it down in a matter of minutes and still screech when it's done. Mommy has chosen to wait until 6 months to start me on solid foods because of allergies. However, that doesn't stop her from buying all sorts of solids gear from amazon!

Sleep: At 14 weeks, on July 4th, I FINALLY slept through the night! 10 hours from 8:30pm-6:30am! Of course, as always when I make a quantum-sleep-leap, I then regressed for several days back to 5-6 hours a night (ugh), leveled out at around 9-10 hours/ night, and then all of sudden this week went BACK to 7.5 hours - ahh!  I'm driving Mommy nuts!  I still nap exclusively in the swing (which holds up to 25 lbs - thank goodness!), usually 3 times a day with two short naps (45 min-1 hr) and then usually a long nap (1.5+ hours).

Milestones:
  • July 4th - 14 weeks - SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!
  • July 15th - 16 weeks - ROLLED OVER! Although most babies roll tummy-to-back around 4 months and back-to-front 5-6 months, I decided to go BACK-to-FRONT at 3.5 months! I don't do it a lot, but will do it if left to chill on my playmat for a while.

Loves:
  • Parties and people - I absolutely adore being out and about. At parties I will sit very still and STARE at everyone around me in amazement. I think new people and new faces are amazing, including my own face in the mirror! I couldn't care less about pets yet.
  • Songs - "Old McDonald's Farm" and "Wheels on the Bus" are definite favorites of course accompanied by lots of physical hand/leg motions!
  • Fingers in my mouth - I just love to suck on my fingers and have really mastered my thumb. Mom Mom got me to use my pacifier a few times, too.
  • Activity Mat - This month I really maxed out my activity mat with grabbing and pulling on the dangling items. I do everything I can to get them in my mouth!
  • Walks in the stroller - Mommy has abandoned the Moby as I'm getting too heavy (except in grocery store), so now we do lots of walks in the stroller. I love staring up at the trees and my surroundings.  On my 4-month birthday, Grandma broke out the umbrella storller - so much easier than the big hefty jogging stroller!
  • Bath time - Still no smiles or giggles, but if I'm cranky, it calms me down REALLY quickly.

Dislikes:
  • Boredom / Being inside too long.
  • Waiting for bottle/boob
  • Bottle finished = World ending

4-Month Favorites:
  1. Tiny Love Activity Mat - I love to lie on my mat, grab my toys, and try to put them in my mouth
  2. Baby Connect App (4th month favorite) - Mommy still uses this religiously for pumping and bottle-consumption tracking
  3. Swing - Still clutch for those naps!
  4. Mobile - I just love staring up at my mobile. Mine is a cloth Pooh Bear mobile one that Mommy and Daddy have to spin, but oh man do I love it. I will SHOUT at it when it stops moving, too. Too cute!
  5. Simple Books - Mommy started reading to me this month! I really like simple books like Blue Hat, Green Hat and Go, Dog, Go.
  6. Crawl Along Snail - This snail lights up and sings but only when you touch it, making it a favorite of Mommy and Daddy, too, since it doesn't drive them insane.  If I'm on my tummy, I'll stare at it's light-up songs.  I haven't figured out how to touch it to make it light/sing yet, but I do occasionally head bump it - or throw toys at it which then cause it to also sing.  Hehe, clever.

And here's 3 other pictures because this is the first photo session where I had FUN!!!!

    Picture Recap of the Week

WE'RE ROLLING!!!!!  At a whoppin' 3.5 months, Aaron is officially rolling back-to-front.  My mother-in-law texted me at work saying she saw Aaron roll over, with our cleaning lady as a witness.  A quick google search told me this was VERY unusual - babies usually roll front-to-back starting at 4 months and then back-to-front at 5-6 months.  Welp, no one told Aaron that he's not supposed to be rolling yet.

I got home from work to confirm the roll myself and... here it is!

He didn't roll again Tuesday through Thursday, then Friday I put him on my activity mat (on his back, middle of the mat) to unload groceries, heard him fussing, and came back to this...

    Really, dude?

In other news, my mother-in-law got him to take a pacifier again!  Originally we pushed the pacifier with the thought that "you can throw away a pacifier, but not a thumb," but we gave up after 2 months of no success.  Suddenly, with this newfound acceptance, I'm torn between letting him adjust to a pacifier (only to take it away in a few months) and just letting him continue his thumb sucking (and risk an 8-yr-old with a thumb habit).

Indecisive, I left in his pacifier one evening while I was eating dinner.  He was sitting in his bouncer on the table, I went to get water, heard a "CLUNK" and turned around to this....

We also had a HILARIOUS playdate with Erin's son Zach this weekend.  I laughed so much.  Zach is an absolutely adorable 1.5 year old (with a new little sibling due in September!) and is SO GOOD with sharing.  He just kept piling toys on top of Aaron, Aaron was overwhelmed at the toy overshare, and Erin/I were dying laughing.  I tried to get a video/picture of it, but every time I whipped out my camera, Zach wanted to see the picture (smart kid!).  He would run back and forth from my camera (pointing at the baby) to the baby on the mat. So hilarious!  He's such a funny kid!  I can't wait for those toddler years!

(Sorry for the blurry picture, but literally this was the only one I snapped)

In other cute picture news... I sent this picture to Adam at work and he replied: "False, he's not Captain Adorable.  He's Lieutenant Colonel Adorable."  Ha!

Aaron has really got into his toys on his playmat.  He talks to them and stares at them (in addition to, of course, frantically trying to eat them).

On a random note, this made me smile.  We do Aaron's laundry separate from ours (Tide Free vs Regular Tide) and while matching up Adam's socks, I came across an odd one... "One of these things is not like the other..."

Of course, no weekly post with be complete without a food porn snapshot.  For three straight weekends, I've eaten chocolate chip banana pancakes. I normally opt for plain pancakes and butter, but I realized I just LOVE the caramelized banana, paired with the richness of the chocolate.  It's like a chocolate covered banana in a pancake.  Yum.

Lastly, for your humor of the week, and since my current banner is Aaron's great photoshoot by L. Marie Photography, I thought I'd share this:

    Picture Recap of the Week

My favorite picture of the week: Aaron in his stroller at the park.  Just look at those blue eyes!

Always the attention whore, little guy loves lying on his blanket and being entertained from above.  I rarely capture the smiles and giggles with my camera, but every now and then I come close.

He's still an exclusive swing napper, and it never ceases to make me laugh that no matter how well I tuck in his blanket, he always manages to wiggle one foot out.

And, big news, someone is FINALLY starting to NOT hate tummy time.  When he's on his back and starts sucking his fingers (which is allll the time), I roll him onto his belly.  His little arms get tucked under him and in perfect position for him to push himself up.  He's much happier when he can get up more and look around.  Then, when tired, we rollllll him back onto his back.

This weekend, I went shoe-shopping with my sister-in-law (looovvveee shoe shopping, and yes, I legit needed a new pair of black heels) and had AZ's bridal shower, so Aaron spent a lot of time with Daddy.  My favorite was this picture Sunday night of the two just chillin' and watching golf.

And since every week must come with at least one food picture... I have to share AZ's cupcake "cake" at her bridal shower.  So simple, yet so creatively cute!

    Aaron's 1st 4th of July

Aaron celebrated his first 4th of July!  We kept the little guy quite busy.  In fact, we wore him out so much that he FINALLY slept his first 10 hours - from 8:30pm to 6:30am!  Ahhhh!  Of course, as does every time he extends his sleeptime, I wake up in a panic that he's dead.  And then the adrenaline rush kept me up.  Sigh.

Before we get into Aaron's cuteness, I have to boost my own self esteem with my two creative July 4th themed foods, both - of course - pin-inspirations, from my board Holiday Fun: flag fruit skewers and flag trifle with white chocolate pudding (Mmm).

Thursday, July 4th, Adam was home from his internship and we celebrating "'Merica" by grocery shopping at Wegmans (best. store. ever.), and then had our FIRST family meal out at a restaurant.  Aaron has been to restaurants before, but never with just me and Adam.  So we ventured out to the [very sophisticated - ha] Joe's Crab Shack.  Aaron did great.  He spent much of it staring at the lights on the ceiling or sucking on his burp cloth.

Just in time for my crab bucket to arrive, he got fussy, so we took him out and let him look around.  That was all he needed - a new perspective and he was happy as could be.

Friday, July 5th, I had to work but Adam stayed home playing with Aaron.  Adam, in typical male fashion, dressed Aaronin a gray Eagles onesie... with matching gray pants and gray socks.... ::mommy cringes::  The convenient thing about being a baby is that you can even make an all-gray outfit look adorable.

Friday night, we had Jack, Rachel, and Tim over, but unfortunately did not get any pictures since Aaron decided to have a MISERABLE night going to bed.  Sigh.  It took us over an hour and a half until he was finally asleep, and after that, Mommy just needed a DRINK... or two or three or four or... yeah, Mommy got a little buzzed.

Saturday we took Aaron to Drew and Kristina's house for a BBQ.  Aaron had a BLAST chilling with all the people and observing the new surroundings.  He even - omg, wait for it - NAPPED on Kristina's lap!  Someone has the baby touch!

(And yes, I've realized that Aaron is wearing a sports-themed onesie in EVERY photo here.  That's what happens when Daddy is home to dress him...)

    It was a great holiday!
